The first quarter of 2017 extended the hectic end to last year with plenty of macro and market events to keep fund managers on their toes. Here, based on data from FE Analytics, are the top 10 performing UK retail funds by three-month performance.
A tiny fund, at just over £4m in size, Peterhouse Asset Management’s Smaller Companies Gold Fund deserves its place as the best performing UK retail fund in the first quarter of the year, having delivered exceptional returns.
Run by mining equity and gold specialist Amanda van Dyke, and co-manager Stephen Watson, the pair seek to identify “best in industry” management teams and assets, together with catalysts which are re-shaping the mining and gold sectors.
The fund seeks to invest at least 80% of its core investment portfolio in securities of companies which are predominantly involved in the mining, exploration, development and production of gold.
Up to 20% of the core investment portfolio may be invested in the securities of companies predominantly engaged in the mining, exploration, development and production of silver and other precious metals.
