The first quarter of 2017 extended the hectic end to last year with plenty of macro and market events to keep fund managers on their toes. Here, based on data from FE Analytics, are the top 10 performing UK retail funds by three-month performance.
Run by Richard Sneller and Mike Gush, the broader portfolio of stocks looks for significant upside from the companies in which it invests.
The £555m portfolio, typically comprised of 60-120 holdings, is currently showing annual turnover of 27% with active share of 69%.
Darius McDermott, managing director at FundCalibre, said: “There is some overlap between the Baillie Gifford emerging market funds and both have high weightings in India, Taiwan and South Korea, which has helped.
“The growth fund has more in India which is why it has done slightly better. Baillie Gifford is very strong across most equity areas as they take their proprietary research very seriously – staying with South Korean families on their trips to get a better feel for the country and even venturing into North Korea.”
