An insight into Standard Life Aberdeen’s young Abu Dhabi office
By Mark Battersby, 7 Mar 18
One of the youngest international offices in the merged Standard Life Aberdeen Group was set up by Aberdeen Asset Management in late 2016, before two businesses combined.
Which Aberdeen Standard investment products are you’re promoting to the wholesale market during the rest of the year?
Most investors still look for income. In this space, there is an appetite in strategies for EMD and Indian Bonds, where we are particularly experienced and have a strong expertise in this asset class.
We also have multi-asset income products although our records are short since they reflect a new investment approach and they aim to generate income and capital growth for our clients who invest and believe in them.
In the last couple of weeks, the global market has become a bit more volatile so, investors are also quite interested in products which aim to protect in a downside, like absolute return funds, or multi-asset, where the diversification should be a positive. Shariah investing products seem less impacted and we offer such options as well.
The key thing for us in the UAE, certainly, so that is to get the funds I’ve spoken about registered with the SCA.
