An insight into Standard Life Aberdeen’s young Abu Dhabi office

One of the youngest international offices in the merged Standard Life Aberdeen Group was set up by Aberdeen Asset Management in late 2016, before two businesses combined.
Saudi is one of the obvious big opportunities, but how has the crackdown by the Crown Prince which has raised billions impacted your business relations in that area?
I don’t think it really has had much of an impact. With the changes they’re working towards, a lot appears to be positive gains both in terms of social and economic. Whether it’s women driving, or diversifying the economy, switching from this oil-based economy that Saudi have to public investment. It’s all positive. As with everything, any kind of business, it’s just the implementation that is potentially where the risk is, they’re doing quite a lot at a quick pace.
