US in the news: Pathstone names CEO

A round-up of people moves and M&A deals across North America

People moves

Pathstone

The family office has promoted Matthew Fleissig to chief executive, effective 1 July 2022.

Fleissig is currently president. He takes over from Pathstone’s current co-chief executives, Steve Braverman and Allan Zachariah, who will become co-chairmen of the firm on the same date.

Also, chief advisory officer, Kelly Maregni, will assume the role of president.

Rockefeller Capital Management

The financial services firm has hired The Mendoza Group, a six-member team led by the father-son team of David and Matthew Mendoza.

They are both managing directors and private wealth advisers. The team has joined the firm’s Rockefeller Global Family Office (RGFO) from Merrill Lynch.

Based in the northern California’s Bay Area, the group is located in San Jose and becomes part of the Pacific northwest division, headed by Brian Riley.

Joining the David and Matthew Mendoza are:

  • Max Podlone – vice president and private wealth adviser;
  • Elizabeth McKown – vice president and private wealth adviser;
  • Sandy Tran – associate vice president and client associate; and
  • Virginia McDonald – associate vice president and client associate.

Raymond James

The wealth firm has hired financial advisers Jay Palmer and Bobby Miller in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

As Lantern Wealth Management, the advisers were previously affiliated with Merrill Lynch.

Also financial advisers Jeanie Taras and Michael Taras have joined the firm in Jacksonville, Florida.

Operating as Taras Wealth Management of Raymond James, the mother and son duo are joined by senior client service associate Sarah Guyton.

The team transitioned to Raymond James from UBS Financial.

M&A

Buckingham Strategic Wealth

The Focus Financial partner firm has agreed to buy Oregon-based registered investment adviser firm Grecu Capital Management for an undisclosed sum.

Grecu provides financial planning and wealth management services to high net worth individuals, business owners, executives and medical professionals.

The firm was founded in 2002 in Roseville, California by Jerrold Grecu, who subsequently relocated to Bend, Oregon in 2020.
