The Isle of Man’s financial services regulator is looking to officially liquidate the stricken Eco Resources Fund, which convinced 189 investors to put $61m (£48m, €57m) into building a bamboo plantation in Nicaragua.

New Earth’s fund manager expected to pay creditors in full
Isle of Man-based Premier Group, the fund manager behind the ill-fated £300m ($373m, €353m) New Earth Group of funds, will be able to pay its creditors in full, according to joint liquidator Craig Mitchell.

New Earth funds to be wound up
The high court of justice of the Isle of Man has granted a wind-up application for three unregulated funds, known collectively as the New Earth Group of Funds.
Unregulated New Earth funds facing liquidation
Joint liquidators have been appointed to the New Earth Group of Funds following an application by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (IOMFSA). The application was made with the knowledge and consent of the funds’ directors.
