Clare Bousfeld has been promoted to managing director, retail & savings with effect from 1 October 2021, subject to regulatory approval.
In the newly-created role, she will lead the expansion of M&G Wealth in the UK and complete the transformation of the Prudential-branded operations.
She will temporarily hand over her responsibilities as chief financial officer to her deputy Paul Cooper while M&G conducts a search for her replacement.
The additional responsibilities also mean she will step down from the PLC board.
David Tiller has joined Quilter as commercial and propositions director as part of the development and growth of its adviser platform.
Described as a ‘veteran of the platform industry’, Tiller most recently held the role of global head of client technology solutions at Standard Life Aberdeen, where he was responsible for the Standard Life Wrap and Elevate platforms.
Reporting to Steven Levin, chief executive of the company’s platform and Quilter Investors, Tiller will oversee the firm’s portfolio management technology, investment solutions, advisers tooling and platform.
His appointment comes after Quilter’s re-platforming exercise completed earlier this year.
Bath-based platform Novia Global has hired Nick Jones as director of operations. He was previously director of client finance at DST (IFDS).
He also spent three years with Novia Financial, the firm’s sister company that was sold to AnaCap earlier this year. Jones was initially a consultant and then a CF10a (client money oversight) working within the compliance function.
After nearly 29 years at the insurer, Kim Jarvis is leaving Canada Life. In a LinkedIn update, she confirmed she has accepted a technical consultant – tax and trusts role at Vitality.
Tilney Smith & Williamson
The wealth management and professional services group has made two further senior hires in its financial intermediaries business development team.
Crawford Armstong and Mark Johnson join from Quilter Cheviot to focus on business development in Scotland and the south of England, respectively.
Armstrong spent 12 years at his previous firm where he was regional development director in Scotland. He previously worked for Scottish Life, National Mutual, @Sipp and Clerical Medical/Scottish Widows during his 30-year career.
Johnson spent four-and-a-half years at Quilter Cheviot but brings with him 19 years’ experience in business development. He previously worked for MetLife and Winterthur Life.
The latest appointment come on the back of hiring Rob Bickerstaffe, Gavin Hill and Jonathan Buttress to focus on business development in the north west, Midlands and East Anglia.
Morningstar Investment Management Europe
Mike Coop has been promoted to chief investment officer for Emea, leading the region’s investment management team and working with advisers and institutions. Coop succeeds Dan Kemp, who was recently appointed global CIO of Morningstar Investment Management.
Coop joined Morningstar as head of multi-asset portfolio management in 2017 having held positions at Prudential Portfolio Management Group, Ibbotson Associates Australia, a business previously acquired by Morningstar, BT Investment Management, Axa Investment Managers, and Bacon & Woodrow.
A trio of portfolio analysts has joined the investment solutions team of wealth manager Brewin Dolphin.
Tom Buffham will help to develop the company’s Sustainable MPS proposition. He previously held fund manager and senior analyst roles at Octopus Investments and Aviva Investors.
He will work alongside Jack Collini and Diego Daprile who joined at the end of last year. Collini previously held portfolio management roles at Fideuram Asset Management Ireland and Sanlam FOUR. Daprile has worked for Bloomberg, Eurex Clearing and KPMG in Italy.
Research and data provider MSCI hired Melissa McDonald as global head of ESG and climate indexes, with effect from 7 September.
Based in London, she will report to Tiana Tidd, global head of index and chief responsibility officer, and Remy Briand, global head of ESG and climate.
McDonald joins MSCI with over three decades’ investment management and sustainable investment experience. She previously served as global head of product, equities and responsible investment at HSBC Global Asset Management. Prior to this, she held various senior leadership roles at Axa Investment Management, most recently as global head of responsible investment.
