The Association of International Life Offices is recruiting associate members for the first time in an effort to strengthen the mix within the organisation.

Associate members could be management consultants, reinsurers, actuarial consultants, investment platforms or third-party administrators.

AILO deputy chairman Bob Pain and chief executive Alan Morgan-Moodie will spearhead the initiative to widen the membership from its 45-strong international life office base.

Pain, who left Friends Provident International when it shifted its focus to Asia, is required to leave his position as deputy chairman once he ceases to work for an international life office, but he said: “I am confident I will have a new position before my official leaving date with Friends so I hope to continue as deputy chair.”

AILO is conducting a member satisfaction survey and engaging with existing and potential members through a series of evening presentations. The first of these took place in Luxembourg on 18 April and the next one is in Dublin on 31 May.

Full membership is only available to international life offices; associate members cannot sit on AILO’s management committee or have voting rights.
