Oulton joins from Mercer Investments where he was head of responsible investment, EMEA. He has 20 years’ experience in the industry, and is vice-president of the European Sustainable Investment Forum and a director of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Forum.
Oulton joins on 7 September and will be responsible for the firm’s global responsible investment strategy, with a particular focus on strengthening its responsible investment capabilities in the EMEA region. He reports to the global head of product, Chris Turpin.
His role was formerly held by Amanda McCluskey, who will move to First State’s Singapore office to work with Angus Tulloch’s Asia Pacific and global emerging markets equity team. Her focus will be on the sustainable development funds the First State Stewart team manages.
To maintain a presence in Sydney, Pablo Berrutti will take on the newly-created role of head of responsible investment, Asia Pacific.
He joins from Perpetual where he was head of responsible investment and will maintain his positions as chair of the investor group on Climate Change Research Working Group, and a director of the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia.
Berrutti, who joins on 23 July and reports to Oulton, will be responsible for supporting the firm’s investment teams and working across asset classes in the Asia Pacific region.
