By International Adviser, 18 Oct 11

Canadian financial services company Manulife has appointed Steven Yeo as the chief legal & compliance officer of its Asia operations.

Canadian financial services company Manulife has appointed Steven Yeo as the chief legal & compliance officer of its Asia operations.

Based in Hong Kong, Manulife said Yeo will be responsible for “setting the strategic direction for legal and compliance services” across its Asia division. Yeo has also been made a member of both the Asia division senior leadership group and the global legal team.

He will report directly to Robert Cook, general manager, Asia.

Yeo joins the company from Citi Group and replaces Mitch New who left to join AIA in April this year after 14 years with the company.

Cook said: “I am pleased to welcome on board someone of Steven’s quality, particularly given his extensive experience in Asia. This appointment further enhances our senior leadership team and puts it in a stronger position to deliver on our wider Asia growth strategy.”
