iom warns on potential shock from volt

28 Mar 12

The Isle of Mans Financial Supervision Commission has issued a warning on Volt Inland Capital, a potentially fraudulent entity which claims to occupy the same address as the regulator.

The Isle of Mans Financial Supervision Commission has issued a warning on Volt Inland Capital, a potentially fraudulent entity which claims to occupy the same address as the regulator.

According to the Volt Inland Capital website, the homepage of which features a photo of a grinning man clutching handfuls of banknotes, the company was founded “nearly two centuries ago” and is “one of the World’s leading wealth management organisations”.

The website claims to offer money transfers for government agencies, as well as online “trustee, custodian and investment advisor, financial manager, investment management and personal representative” services for individuals.

However, the Finch Hill House contact address used by Volt Inland Capital is also that of the FSC, which said that it has established no association between the purported entity and any genuine companies based on the Isle of Man, or indeed the island itself.

The commission warned that any person accessing the website could become the victim of an advanced fee fraud or identity theft.

A list of institutions licensed by the FSC is available on its website.
