David Knights, Friends Provident Internationals general manager for the North Asia region, has left the company.

Knights had been with FPI for more than 18 years and held this position since January 2008. He was responsible for the overall management of the business in Hong Kong.

Prior to this, he was the regional sales director and business development manager at the company and, overall, has more than 20 years experience in the financial services industry.

In a statement, FPI said Knight’s “successor will be announced shortly” and that in the interim, FPI managing
director James Tan will be “stewarding the Hong Kong office operations during this interim period”.

There have been a number of high profile departures from life companies so far this year, including Chris Ivinson  who left last month and Standard Life's Ray Halliday who stepped down from his position in January.
