Fixed income: winners and losers in H1
By Kristen McGachey, 14 Jul 17
As we move through the halfway point of 2017, many investors have grown wary of the risk asset rally and are returning to the relative safety of fixed income funds. But which have performed the best year-to-date? And which have not fared so well?
Investors over the period would have reaped the biggest rewards by putting their money in the Barings Local EM Debt fund, which soared above competitor funds in other categories.
Under managers Ricardo Adrogue and Cem Karacadag, it has produced a whopping total return of 12.05% so far this year.
Since its launch in November 2015, it has surged to £326.7m in assets under management.
Currently, the fund has major holdings in Mexican bonos and bonds issued from the Republic of South Africa, accounting for 15% and 14.37% of the portfolio respectively.
