The precipitous falls seen on stock markets in recent weeks have opened up opportunities for brave managers of long term money, while at the same time ratcheting up the noise and negative sentiment in the round.
The volatility seen in markets over the first six weeks of the year was one of the many topics under discussion at Portfolio Adviser’s recent wealth management round table in Dublin. Conversation ranged from the impact of Brexit to the value of emerging markets. But, the through line was the expectation that growth globally is likely to remain lower for longer, an environment that poses a number of challenges for assets allocators, particularly where they have low-risk clients.
