The insurer’s technical manager since 2007, Brown has previously held high-profile positions in Aegon and RL360° after joining the life industry in 1995.
Brown started his career at the UK tax office – then known as the Inland Revenue – as a graduate trainee before going on to become a chartered accountant.
In 1995, he joined Scottish Equitable (now Aegon), as a technical consultant, moving on to Scottish Life International (now RL360°) in 2003.
As a long standing member of International Adviser’s tax and technical panel, Brown has always been passionate about case law related to the financial services industry.
He is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (Step) and the Personal Finance Society (PFS).
Prudential was keen to reassure advisers that despite Brown’s retirement “there will be a seamless continuation of Prudential’s technical support” provided by his colleagues.
“For the last nine years Gerry has been responsible for the maintenance and development of Prudential’s range of trusts and deals with tax planning issues arising from Prudential’s product range.
“Gerry writes regularly on tax and trust related issues for industry publications and professional journals,” said the insurer in a statement.
