The programme, in the broadcaster’s The Report series, will feature BBC journalist Simon Cox, who will “investigate the dangers of ‘pension liberation’ schemes,” according to a blurb on the BBC’s website.
Pension liberation, the blurb explains, can begin "with a simple text inviting you to release money from an old pension before you are 55, the earliest age at which you can officially access your money.
“People in financial difficulties may be tempted to sign up, but will they ever see their money again?”
The programme is due to begin at 8pm UK time.

As reported, in February the UK’s Pensions Regulator and various other government agencies announced a plan to target "pension liberators", the centre of which is an informational campaign. Pension Regulator chief executive Bill Galvin appeared on the BBC’s Money Box radio show to highlight what he said were the dangers people face when they respond to scams which invite them to “unlock” money from their pensions.
