As part of a global fund strategy, Pioneer Investments is launching two new liquid alternative strategies through Luxembourg-domiciled funds.
At the same time, the strategies will be launched through US domestic mutual funds with a third strategy giving US investors an extension of the Pioneer Investments Absolute Return Bond Fund available since 2010.
The Pioneer Long/Short Global Bond strategy invests across a broad range of absolute return strategies focused on fixed income and fixed income-related securities, including derivatives. It will keep a fairly short duration, between -3 and 3yrs to minimise interest rate sensitivity, in its overall attempt to provide positive total returns through different market environments.
The second proposition, the Pioneer Long/Short Opportunistic Credit strategy, has some similar traits with one difference being additional risk is introduced by the average duration extending to between -4 to 4yrs.
This Long/Short Opportunistic Credit strategy is also able to invest in equity or equity-like securities. Each strategy is managed by Thomas Swaney, head of alternative fixed income, US and Benjamin Gord, portfolio manager, alternative fixed income, with support from Pioneer Investments’ global fixed income team of includes 63 portfolio managers, 27 credit analysts and 12 portfolio construction /risk management analysts.
These additions expand on the existing absolute return bond strategy co-managed by Tanguy Le Saout and Cosimo Marasciulo.
