Mr Hasegawa, who has twenty-four years’ experience in various compliance and auditing roles, will report directly to Charles Beazley, president and chief executive of the Tokyo-based company.
Mr Hasegawa comes from the asset management company Mitsubishi Corp, UBS, Realty inc (a joint venture between the trading company and the financial group) and has held various positions in a number of large institutions, including Sanwa Bank, Merrill Lynch, Japan, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Japan.
While the position is a newly created role, Nikko chief legal officer Ross Long has been covering it in the interim since his own appointment in June.
Mr Hasegawa joins the company from 7 October.
