The funds span long-only equity and bond mandates and so-called newcits products, which take advantage of investment powers allowed under Ucits III regulations, such as synthetic shorting.
Syz Asset Management is part of Swiss private banking group Syz & Co, which said the registration of the funds reflects growing UK demand for its products.
In total, there are 30 funds in the Oyster range, which are authorised for sale in a total of ten European countries.
Among the funds now available in the UK – where Syz has had a presence since 2001 – are European all cap and small cap products, Latin American and Japanese equity funds.
According to Syz, since inception the Oyster European Opportunities Fund has returned 103.63% compared to 26.32% for the benchmark STOXX Europe 600. In 2010, it returned 21.05% compared to 11.61% for the benchmark.
The newcits funds includes credit, absolute return and high yield funds.
Management fees range from 1% to 1.75% annually. Some funds also have performance fees, typically 10%, but going up to 20% in some cases. Switching between Oyster funds is also free of charge.
