The fund is registered for sale in the UK, Ireland, Italy, France and the Netherlands and tracks the Dow Jones Global Select Real Estate Securities Index by owning a diversified portfolio of listed REITs and operating companies.
It is physically-backed and designed to replicate the global real estate market and also offers a Ucits compliant way to access the market.
Seen as an asset class with a low correlation to equities and bonds, the inclusion of emerging markets in the fund also allows investors to access property companies in growth countries.
Scott Ebner, global head of product development at SPDR ETFs, said: “t can be challenging for clients to manage real estate allocations efficiently. The global and diversified nature of our new SPDR ETF could serve as a core real estate holding in a well-balanced portfolio.”
The firm said it now has 43 ETFs listed on European exchanges, including the London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Borse.
