The London headquartered company yesterday announced to the London stock exchange, where it is listed, it has received approval from the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission for the office which it has now opened on Athol Street.

Company chief executive Richard Killingbeck said WH Ireland had “long recognised the importance of offering its clients an international solution” and decided to establish its operation in what it described as “one of the most developed and highly rated international centres”.

Killingbeck added: “This new office reflects our strategy to grow our discretionary wealth management business.

“The evolution of new international pension structures such as QROPS and onshore solutions such as QNUPS combined with traditional trust, captive, corporate and private client business ensures there will be plenty of opportunities to grow our Isle of Man business.”

The new office is led by David Bushe, Gary Colley and Will Corrin who will report directly to Killingbeck.

WH Ireland said the office will be tasked with launching the company’s international wealth management services and managing corporate and private client discretionary and advisory asset management relationships on the Isle of Man and other jurisdictions, typically with portfolios in excess of £250,000.

The new office could be seen as a threat by other existing Isle of Man based private wealth offices such as Creechurch Capital. Last month, Creechurch appointed Stephanie Gardiner as business development manager as part of a drive to expand its operation overseas.
