US talk show hosts find humour in IoM’s S&P rating

US comedians are finding humour in the Isle of Man’s superior credit rating to that of America.

US comedians are finding humour in the Isle of Man's superior credit rating to that of America.

Jon Stewart, host of the popular late night Daily Show on America’s Comedy Central network, responded with a stunned look to the news that the IoM, an island “right off the coast of the UK”, was among a number of countries that have managed to retain their triple A rating, even as America’s rating was lowered. “Ouch!” he finally said.

Also finding mock indignation at the superiority of the Isle of Man was Stephen Colbert, another American satirist, who noted that the AAA rating was kept for “financial powerhouses like the Isle of Man”, rather than “the richest, most powerful country in the world”.

Colbert’s 32-second clip may be viewed here.
