US signs cross-border cooperation agreement with Hong Kong

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has entered into a memorandum of understanding on cross-border cooperation with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has entered into a memorandum of understanding on cross-border cooperation with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

The memorandum provides consultation, cooperation and the exchange of information related to the supervision and oversight of regulated entities operating on a cross-border basis in Hong Kong and the United States.

The memorandum was signed on 18 January 2017 by SEC chair Mary Jo White and SFC chief executive Ashley Alder.

It covers exchanges and other trading venues, market intermediaries, investment funds or companies, clearing agencies and credit rating agencies.
