US in the news: Wells Fargo hires CFO from BNY Mellon

A round-up of people moves and M&A deals across North America

People moves

Wells Fargo

Mike Santomassimo will join the company as chief financial officer. Santomassimo will report to CEO Charlie Scharf and serve on the company’s Operating Committee.

He joins Wells Fargo from BNY Mellon, where he was chief financial officer since 2018

Santomassimo will succeed John Shrewsberry, who has announced plans to retire following a 22-year career with Wells Fargo, including the last six years as the company’s chief financial officer.

Shrewsberry will continue in his role until Santomassimo joins the company and assist with the transition.

SFA Partners

The firm has brought four wealth management teams into the group.

The teams are:

  • Kolinsky Wealth Management, Ramsey, New Jersey – The team is led by Stephen Kolinsky, Jason Kolinsky and Chad Kolinsky;
  • Lehner Carroll Shope Capital Management, Perrysburg, Canfield and Canton, Ohio – The team is led by managing partners Brian Lehner and Amy Shope;
  • OakPoint Investment Partners, Southfield, Michigan – The firm is managed by Rebecca Abel; and
  • Life Income, Salem, South Carolina – Industry veteran Roger Woodruff runs the business.

Tiedemann Advisors

The investment firm has named Jill Shipley as head of family governance and education.

Most recently, Shipley was senior managing director at Cresset Capital, leading the firm’s governance and education practice.

Optimize Wealth Management

The firm has named Dino Berardocco as senior financial planner.

He has been in the financial services industry for 18 years.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management

The firm has appointed Kent Moegerle as southeast regional president.

Kent joined the company in 2019 as southeast regional head of client strategy.

Also, BNY Mellon Wealth Management has named Barry McKenzie as market president in Naples, Florida.

He joins BNY Mellon from Northern Trust, where he was senior vice president and senior personal investment portfolio manager.

RBC Wealth Management

The wealth manager has hired William Grayson as managing director and financial adviser in San Francisco.

He joins RBC Wealth Management from Alliance Bernstein, where he spent 10 years as national director of family offices for Bernstein Private Wealth Management in San Francisco.

Raymond James

The US firm has hired Craig Weis as branch manager in Roseville, California.

Weis joins Raymond James from UBS and will be joined by senior client associate Jennifer Goldsby.

Alex Brown

The Raymond James subsidiary has hired advisers Marina Tudela, Idalia Daguin and Gabriela Aguilar in Miami, Florida.

Tudela, Daguin and Aguilar join from UBS.
