US in the news: Private wealth firm names CIO

A round-up of people moves and M&A deals across North America

People moves

Southeastern Trust

The boutique private wealth management firm has named Britt Messer as chief investment officer.

Messer most recently served with Truist Bank (formerly SunTrust) where he spent the last two decades in its private wealth management division.

Jackson National Life Insurance Company

Liz Werner has been named senior vice president of investor relations at the Prudential life insurer.

She recently served as head of investor relations for American International Group (AIG).

Sanctuary Wealth

The wealth firm has hired Fjell Capital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Led by 30-year-old adviser Tom Stadum, the two-person team was formerly affiliated with UBS.

Joining Stadum is registered senior wealth adviser Daniel Schuster.

Raymond James

The firm has hired financial adviser Kimberly Evans to join its offices in Atlanta, Georgia.

Evans joins from Wells Fargo Advisors and is joined by relationship manager Anne Serianni.

Evans and Serianni operate as Align Wealth Advisors located in Atlanta, Georgia, and will be partnering with the Avenue Wealth Management Group, a Raymond James-affiliated group headquartered in Athens, Georgia.

M&A

Creative Planning

The registered investment adviser (RIA) firm has acquired Miller Financial Management, a wealth firm located in Muncie, Indiana.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sentinus

The wealth management firm has merged with Money Managers Financial Group (MMFG), an investment advisory firm.

Led by Nancy Coutu and John Gajkowski, MMFG specialises in providing retirement and financial planning services ranging from asset management and asset protection to life insurance, long-term care and charitable giving.

The Money Managers staff will remain in their Oak Brook, Illinois office.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
