UK advice company partners with DFM firm to boost ESG offering

By Cristian Angeloni, 15 Jun 21

‘More and more clients want to express their values through their savings and investment choices’

Nottingham-headquartered wealth management firm The RU Group has joined forces with investment firm EBI Portfolios to expand its access to ESG solutions.

The RU Group comprises of Russell Ulyatt Financial Services, Greenhalgh Financial Services, Hart Shaw Financial Planning and Shevill Parkes Financial Services. The advisory business has offices in Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield and has more than 60 members of staff across the country.

EBI Portfolios was originally set up in 2010 by Craig Burgess while running Blackstone Wealth Management. In 2013, the firm gained DFM authority and created its managed portfolio service available to financial advisers. It currently has around £1.6bn ($2.2bn, €1.8bn) in assets under administration and more than 200 advisers in its network.

‘Express values’

Ian Browne, head of advice at The Ru Group, said: “We are finding that more and more of our clients want to be able to express their values and personal convictions through their savings and investment choices.

“We therefore wanted to expand our service offering in this area to offer our clients increased choice in this area.

“Assessing ESG criteria to analyse and evaluate investment opportunities is an increasingly popular way to determine how and where investments are made. In partnership with EBI, we are able to provide Earth portfolios, which give investors the opportunity to combine a passion for ethical behaviour with positive financial returns.”

Craig Burgess, chief executive of EBI Portfolios, added: “Sustainable investing is a fast-growing area.

“We are privileged to be working with a high calibre partner such as the RU Group to expand its offering to its clients, while providing significant environmental and social value and encouraging best practice.”
