UBS Asset Management has hired Rob Lay as head of distribution partners Europe and Middle East.

UBS Asset Management has hired Rob Lay as head of distribution partners Europe and Middle East.

Lay, who will take up his new position from 1 March next year, will head up the company’s newly-established pan-regional initiative and will be responsible for all aspects of the firm’s wholesale fund distribution business. He will report to Tim Blackwell, head of Europe and will be based in London.

Lay was previously at Baring Asset Management, where he has been head of UK, European and Middle Eastern fund sales since 2007. He has also worked at JP Morgan Asset Management and Fidelity International.

“The expansion of our fund distribution business continues to be an important strategic priority”, said John Fraser, chairman and CEO of UBS Global Asset Management.

“We see significant growth potential in Europe and, in launching this initiative, we are aiming to replicate our success in a number of major wholesale markets, notably in Switzerland and Asia Pacific.”
