Top of the pile for the first half of 2017 was Baillie Gifford’s Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust, one of the most popular companies time and again.

It can trace its roots back to 1909 when investments in rubber plantations were all the rage.

Still popular today, the trust has more than £5.9bn in assets and recently entered the FTSE 100 and managed to lower its fees in the process.

The AIC claimed the trust had been one of the most viewed pages every month this year so far.
