Standard Life Investments has appointed Virginia Devereux Wong as its head of institutional wholesale business in Asia.
In this new role, Wong will be responsible for developing Standard Life Investments’ private banking and wholesale distribution businesses in Asia.
She joins Xiaosong Zhang and FeiFei Zhu, who were both appointed in July as investment director and Asia business development manager, respectively.
Based in Hong Kong, Wong reports to David Peng, head of Asia. The global asset manager is witnessing a "very positive momentum in the region right now" with the ramping of the team and as it moves to larger new Hong Kong offices, Peng said.
Wong, who has over 20 years experience, joins from Goldman Sachs Asset Management where she spearheaded the sales and business development in fund distribution to private banks in Asia ex-Japan.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, Wong established the institutional and private banking distribution business relationships at SEI Investments in Asia.
Wong was one of the founding partners of a locally established Asia Ex Japan equity fund manager and one of few early female entrepreneurs in the IFA business in Hong Kong.
Standard Life had assets under management of £178.8bn at the end of June.
