Sanlam introduces African Frontier Markets Fund

27 Jun 11

Sanlam Investment Management has launched the single manager Sanlam African Frontier Markets Fund.

Sanlam Investment Management has launched the single manager Sanlam African Frontier Markets Fund.

The Dublin-domiciled fund aims to provide a total return consistent with long-term capital growth by investing in listed African (ex South Africa) equities that are undervalued and offer above average growth.

Kibe said he will run the fund with a value-based investment philosophy, focusing on investing in companies that are priced below their intrinsic value. It will be unconstrained with no reference to an index, country weightings and sector allocations are a by-product of a bottom-up selection process based on fundamental analysis.

He added that Sanlam has teams of analysts and portfolio managers in Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia; a presence in Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and Ghana; as well as a group research hub in Bangalore.

Sanlam is a South African firm though it has an extensive presence across the continent with R300bn (around £25bn) in assets under management. It is a Ucits III fund and has a minimum investment of £1,000.
