RSM UK appoints new private client tax partner

By Mark Battersby, 7 Jan 25

She is based in RSM’s Edinburgh office and supports clients throughout the UK

Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK has appointed Lisa Macpherson-Fletcher as Edinburgh-based tax partner in the private client advisory team.

Macpherson-Fletcher is a chartered tax adviser with over 20 years’ experience advising clients from a range of industries and sectors in succession and estate planning for family businesses, particularly for large estates, landowners and agricultural clients. She is based in RSM’s Edinburgh office and supports clients throughout the UK.

Having started her tax career at Deloitte on the firm’s graduate trainee scheme, Macpherson-Fletcher’s technical specialisms have been developed within practice, including over eight years at Saffery. She works closely with the legal sector to provide collaborative and cohesive advice to her clients, pulling on experience gained as a tax director at leading Scottish law firm Gillespie Macandrew LLP. These links to the legal sector are reinforced through her role as a Scotland Branch Committee Member and Treasurer for STEP Scotland (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners).

Macpherson-Fletcher said: “I am excited to be working with a diverse range of businesses and a dynamic, client focused team of experts at RSM. I particularly love working closely with families, getting to know them, earning their trust, and helping them achieve their future planning goals. Last year’s Budget increased the need to support those with significant land and estates who want to understand how recent changes might impact their businesses, property and inheritance planning, so I’m expecting to be very busy.”

Gary Heynes, head of private client services, RSM UK, said: “I am delighted that Lisa is now part of our national private client team. RSM’s mid-market focus means we predominantly advise private businesses and their owners, and the Autumn Budget has given rise to a significant increase in enquiries around succession and inheritance tax planning, particularly from family business owners and those in the farming sector. Lisa’s experience in estate and succession planning arrives at just the right time and will be invaluable for the current demand for advice in these areas.”
