PFS offers free membership to prospective second careerists

By Robbie Lawther, 19 Apr 21

Candidates selected will receive training support to become financial advisers within two years

The Personal Finance Society (PFS) has offered 100 free memberships for two years for individuals who wish to retrain to join the financial planning profession.

The memberships will be offered via ‘We Are Change’, a not-for-profit training initiative run by the Verve Group, which assists those who have lost their jobs due to covid-19 to receive the free training and qualifications they need to start a career in financial services.

Candidates selected by the campaign will receive e-learning to achieve their Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning within two years.

Training is offered free of charge to those who have lost their job due to covid-19 because We Are Change has sought companies to sponsor a trainee for £85 ($118, €98) per month for 24 months.

The sponsorship covers the cost of their CII study materials and exam entry to gain their Level 4 Diploma.

‘Build back better’

Keith Richards, outgoing chief executive of the PFS, said: “This is a fantastic initiative that will attract new talent to the profession and contribute to succession planning more widely.

“We are proud to support this initiative to help individuals whose careers have been disrupted by covid-19 to access a rewarding career in the financial advice profession.

“Financial advisers and paraplanners have a key role to play in helping the country build back better the financial fortitude of the UK and planning is increasingly being recognised for its power to change people’s lives for the better.”
