Best performing sectors for UK funds in 2017

The results are in – here are the 10 strongest-performing sectors on a total return basis according to the UK’s Investment Association and data from FE Analytics.

3. Global Emerging Markets

Global EM was in the winner’s circle last quarter,  yielding returns of 11.03%.

Although investors were growing anxious over the fate of EM equities in the era of Trumponomics, they breathed a collective sigh of relief following more dovish intentions from the Federal Reserve and a weaker than anticipated dollar.

“This has been the asset class investors want to fall in love with again,” said Lowcock.

“Unlike other sectors which performed well last year, valuations in this area continue to look very attractive and if the global economy continues to grow then the sectors are likely to continue to perform.”
