PEOPLE MOVES: RBC WM, Raymond James, Brooks Macdonald Int’l

Wealth manager names four directors in Asia, as investment firm poaches financial planners from 1825

RBC Wealth Management

The wealth firm has further strengthened its position in Asia through the appointment of four senior bankers to serve the financial and wealth planning needs of high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients.

Vincent Cheng, Ellis Lau, Leo Zhang and Yoon Tae-Jung will be directors in RBC’s relationship management team in Hong Kong.

They will provide advice and wealth management solutions to clients in the region who have ties globally, especially to Canada, the US and the UK.

Cheng joins from Bank of Singapore in Hong Kong, where he was a relationship manager, and Lau joins RBC from Glory Sun Securities, where he was investment solutions director.

Zhang transferred to Hong Kong from RBC in Toronto, where he held a similar role supporting Asian families with international wealth management needs. Yoon joins from Hope Chain Asset Management in Hong Kong.

Raymond James

Former 1825 financial planners Tony Moss and Robert Goldschmidt have set up a branch in Barbican.

The duo have worked together for over 25 years and founded firm Cumberland Place Financial Management which was acquired by 1825, the financial planning arm of Standard Life Aberdeen, in 2018.

Simon Evan-Cook will be providing expertise to Moss and Goldschmidt as part of their investment committee. David Jane will also be a founding member of the Raymond James Barbican investment committee.

Jane is the ex-head of equities at M&G and has been the multi-asset manager at Premier Miton since 2014.

Joanna Danes, former investment manager at Charles Stanley and Barclays Wealth, is joining the team. She has over 20 years’ experience working with private clients and Court of Protection investment, which will be an area of expertise for Raymond James Barbican.

Brooks Macdonald International

The wealth manager has appointed James Bougeard and Phoebe Chamier as senior investment managers, based in Jersey.

Bougeard joins Brooks Macdonald International from HSBC Expat, where he provided advice on wealth management solutions to a portfolio of high net worth international clients.

Chamier joins Brooks Macdonald International after more than seven years with BNP Paribas, where she was responsible for relationship management and developing an internationally based ultra-high net worth client book.

RBS International

The bank has appointed Neal King as its senior director, to oversee new business from NatWest’s trustee and depositary services traditional fund management clients.

King was most recently global head of corporate trust and loan agency product at HSBC.

Square Mile

The research firm has hired William James as an investment manager.

He joins the Square Mile team from Natixis Investment Managers where, for the last four years, he was a client relationship manager.

Highvern Group

The financial services provider has bolstered its family office reach with appointment of Richard Joynt as head of family office services.

He was previously director of Ocorian.

Capital Group

Flavio Carpenzano has joined the firm as a fixed income investment director.

He joins from AB, where he was a senior investment strategist.

Premier Miton Group

The investment firm has appointed Sarah Mussenden and Sarah Walton as non-executive directors with immediate effect.

Mussenden has had an extensive career in senior financial positions, including her present role as British Gas chief financial officer, and previously as chief financial officer of Barts and The London NHS Trust and financial controller of British Airways.

Walton was previously at Gemcorp Capital and Goldman Sachs.

Blackfinch Group

Steve John has become as ESG manager at the company.

He was previously CSR manager at law firm TLT.
