PEOPLE MOVES: Quilter, HSBC, Close Brothers

Wealth manager hires academy director while asset manager makes two senior hires

Quilter

The wealth manager has hired Chris Jones as its Financial Adviser School (FAS) academy director.

Jones joins from St James’s Place where he was head of change and prioritisation.

He will report to Amanda Cassidy managing director of Quilter Financial Advisers.

Jones will lead on the expansion of the FAS’s current offering through the introduction of a support programme designed to assist graduates as they enter the advice profession.

HSBC Asset Management

The asset manager has appointed Richard Smith as head of UK Credit Solutions and senior portfolio manager within its global bond team.

He joined the firm in September 2023 from abrdn where he was an investment director.

Smith will be based in London reporting to Oliver Boulind head of Global Credit and will be responsible for developing bespoke global fixed income offerings and helping manage global bond portfolios.

Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM)

The asset manager has appointed Mark Henley and Simon Tabb as senior investment directors.

Henley has 30 years’ experience in managing a range of onshore and offshore portfolios.

He specialises in taxable portfolios, ISA’s, Self-Invested Pension Plans, family trusts and Inheritance Tax planning wrappers.

While Tabb has 20 years’ experience and is an expert in bespoke investment management and tax planning, specialising in managing bespoke portfolios on behalf of private clients, charities, pension funds and trusts.

Copia Capital

The discretionary fund manager has hired Beverley Aubrey as a new junior investment analyst.

Aubrey has spent 12 years at Data Mining Solutions Ltd where she established and managed the company’s occupational pension scheme.

Planet First Partners

The growth equity investment platform has appointed Nathan Medlock as managing partner.

This hire marks the continuation of the firms focus on ESG investment opportunities.

Medlock has 25 years’ experience in private equity, M&A, corporate finance, and government advisory.

He joins from Zouk Capital, a tech growth equity and infrastructure fund manager where he was a partner.
