Old Mutual International
Old Mutual International, part of Old Mutual Wealth, is developing its growth strategy in Singapore through the hire of sales specialist Bryan Pee. The new role has been developed to support the business’s continued focus on high net worth individuals (HNWI) and to expand OMI’s reach in Singapore.
Pee joins from Bank of China where he gained experience in product, distribution and proposition design. He has previous distribution experience at Zurich International Life, focusing on the Bancassurance channel and the affluent and high net worth markets.
Schroders
After more than 19 years at Schroders and an investment career spanning 32 years, Geoff Blanning, head of Emerging Market Debt Absolute Return and Commodities Group, has decided to retire and will leave Schroders in April 2018.
Abdallah Guezour, currently head of Emerging Market Debt Absolute Return, will take over the role in January 2018. Guezour joined Schroders in 2000 and has worked with Blanning for over 20 years.
Mark Lacey, who has been working closely with Blanning over the past three years as a fund manager for Schroders Commodities Strategy, Global Energy and Global Gold, will take over the leadership of the Commodities team and overall energy sector responsibilities from January 2018.
Aviva Investors
Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva, has appointed Adeline Ng as head of Asian Fixed Income and Alice Wu as analyst, Asian Fixed Income.
Based in Singapore, they will join the firm on 11 December 2017. Ng will report to Dan James, global head of Fixed Income, and be responsible for leading the fixed income business in the region; ensuring broad coverage of local rates, foreign exchange and credit to feed into Aviva Investor’s globally-integrated investment process.
Wu will report to Ng, and will be responsible for further development of regional credit research, aligned to the firm’s global corporate research platform.
Brooks Macdonald
Jason Wood has joined the senior leadership team as chief operating officer after 21 years working at Schroders. Group finance director Simon Jackson has decided to step down from April next year after 17 years working at the firm.
Andrew Shepherd has been given an expanded role as part of the changes and will now hold the position of managing director of distribution alongside his role as group deputy chief executive.
The staffing changes follow confirmation that Brooks Macdonald will merge its funds and investment management business. Two staff have also been recruited to its Cardiff office, which opened in July.
BNP Paribas Asset Management
BNP Paribas AM has appointed Elodie Lelief to its ETF & Indexed Fund Solutions sales team within its newly-created Multi-asset, Quantitative & Solutions (MAQS) investment group.
Lelief joined on 1 December and reports to Lorraine Sereyjol-Garros, head of ETF & Indexed Fund Solutions sales. She will focus on French-speaking clients (France, Monaco, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland).
T. Rowe Price Group
T. Rowe Price has continued the expansion of its Multi-Asset division with the hire of Nick Samouilhan as a solutions strategist for Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
Based in London, Samouilhan joins from Aviva Investors – where he was a senior fund manager within its multi-asset team. Prior to Aviva, he was an analyst for multi-asset funds at Investec Asset Management, having joined Investec after completing his PhD in Economics.
Bedell Cristin
Bedell Cristin has named Neil May as its chief operating officer.
Before joining the law firm, he has served as chief executive at London-based chambers 42 Bedford Row for the past two years, and he has worked as a senior consultant to firms in London.
Based in the firm’s Jersey office, but with responsibility across all jurisdictions, May’s focus will be on the growth and evolution of Bedell.
He will work with the managing partner and senior management team overseeing change management and leadership, operational matters and client service
MC Trustees
MC Trustees (Malta) Limited (MCTML) has appointed Edward Thorpe as head of operations.
Thorpe joins from Mattioli Woods in the UK and has many years’ experience in UK Sipp and Ssas administration. For the past four years, Thorpe has been the lead in business change projects for MC Trustees (Administration) Ltd as a part of the Mattioli Woods group of companies.
He will head up the MCTML team in Malta to build on the firm’s reputation as a Malta Qrops and take the company forward into 2018.
