Regulator names acting CEO, as promotional body hires chief executive

Malta Financial Services Authority

The Maltese regulator has appointed Michelle Mizzi Buontempo as acting chief executive.

She is currently chief enforcement officer.

Buontempo will be taking over from Joseph Gavin who is stepping down, as announced on 5 August 2022.

Gavin stepped down from the role temporarily in June 2022 for medical reasons – but returned a month later.

Cayman Finance

Steve McIntosh has been named as chief executive of the promotional body.

He was previously chief executive and founder of Career Point.

UBS Global Wealth Management

The wealth manager has made two appointments in Hong Kong.

Desiree Lam has re-joined UBS as market team head. Before she re-joined, she was managing partner at an external asset management company.

Dabby Leung has also joined as market team head for global family and institutional wealth. Leung started her career working in corporate banking at Citibank and subsequently moved to Credit Suisse as a senior client partner covering the ultra-high net worth Hong Kong market for 15 years.

Lam is a replacement for of Bryce Wan, who left in August, while Leung is a new hire.

Redwheel

The investment firm has appointed Jane Nicholls as head of business development.

She joins from Abrdn, where she was global head of ESG client strategy.

Nicholls replaces Tord Stallvik, who stepped up to the role of chief executive in 2021.

XPS Pensions Group

Mark Searle has been promoted to lead the firm’s defined contribution (DC) investment team.

He first joined XPS in October 2020.

The Pensions Ombudsman

Dominic Harris has been confirmed as the pensions ombudsman.

He will take on the role from 16 January 2023. The current pensions ombudsman, Anthony Arter, will remain in post until 15 January 2023.

Harris is currently a partner in the pensions team at law firm CMS.

Evelyn Partners

The wealth management and professional services group has appointed Michael Vaughan as a financial planner in its London financial planning team.

He joins Evelyn Partners from Attivo Group, where he worked for three and a half years and was a financial planner.

Lumera

The insurtech company has named Johan Rudén as chief operating officer.

He was the former chief information officer at Swedish insurer Folksam.
