Legal & General
Sir John Kingman has been appointed group chairman of Legal & General; succeeding Rudy Markham, who has served as interim chairman since John Stewart’s retirement from the board on 1 June.
Kingman has had an extensive Whitehall career, culminating as second permanent secretary of HM Treasury, where his responsibilities variously included serving as managing director of the Finance and Industry Directorate, and managing director of the Public Services and Growth Directorate.
He was also chief executive of UK Financial Investments, with responsibility for managing the government’s shareholdings in Lloyds Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Northern Rock.
Axa
The French insurance giant has announced three senior executive appointments. Helen Browne has been named group general counsel of Axa, replacing and reporting to George Stansfield, group general secretary.
Nicolas Leclerq has been appointed head of group corporate finance & treasury (DCFG). He will report to Gérald Harlin, group chief finance officer.
Amélie Oudéa-Castera has been named group marketing and digital officer in charge of digital, brand, customer interactions and customer experience. She will report to Véronique Weill, group chief customer officer, chief executive of Axa Global Asset Management.
Schroders
Johanna Kyrklund has been promoted to head of multi-asset investment following a restructure of its multi-asset and portfolio solutions teams. She replaces Nico Marais who is leaving the company.
As part of her new role, Kyrklund will lead the multi-asset investment team with a focus on multi-asset investing, emphasising dynamic asset allocation, and portfolio construction. She will also continue in her role as head of Schroders’ global asset allocation committee.
As part of its restructure, Schroders will create two investment teams from its existing multi-asset investment and portfolio solutions business. John McLaughlin and Andrew Connell will head up the portfolio solutions business.
WHIreland
In a further move to refocus its wealth management business, WHIreland has promoted Roddy Buchanan to head of the wealth management division, reporting into chief executive Richard Killingbeck.
Buchanan, who was previously deputy head of private clients, takes over from Killingbeck, who will focus on his role as chief executive of WHIreland Group.
Independent wealth management consultant Rupert Yeoward has joined the firm as deputy head of wealth management, reporting to Buchanan. He previuosly worked for Rathbone Investment Management and Deutsche Bank.
Pimco
Abhi Shroff has been named senior vice president and head of southeast institutional business development for Pimco. He joined the firm from Greenwich Associates and will report to Scott Steele, the Hong Long-based head of institutional business for Asia ex-Japan.
Shroff will be responsible for developing new businesses and managing relationships with institutional clients in Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
RWC Partners
Peter Clarke will be joining the board of RWC Partners as a non-executive director. Clarke currently serves on the boards of Lombard Odier and Axa UK, and he is chairman of Lancashire Holdings. He brings with him more than 30 years’ industry experience, including six years as chief executive of Man GLG.
Nicky Richards was also recently appointed non-executive chairman of RWC Partners. Richards is global head of equities for Schroders, who have a 43% shareholding in the investment management firm.
Brown Shipley
Phil Harris has been named client director of Brown Shipley Leeds office. He brings over 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry having worked across a number of roles at HSBC, including most recently director and senior private banker.
