Discretionary investment manager PortfolioMetrix has expanded its team with the addition of Gordon Butchers in the newly created role of global marketing manager, reporting to distribution director, Dave Chessell.
Butchers brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held senior marketing positions at specialist financial adviser software firm Intelliflo and international accountancy software provider Adra.
Based in the UK, the role has been created to support the firm’s UK growth plans plus its expansion within and outside the existing territories of UK, South Africa and Ireland during 2017.
Creechurch Capital
Discretionary fund manager Creechurch Capital has appointed Paul Warburton as its head of investments. He brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as wealth manager for Coutts where he provided investment advice to a portfolio of wealthy private clients whilst also working closely with their professional advisers.
Warburton’s focus will be working with private individuals and their own networks of advisers, as well as building a network of trust companies, pension providers and other intermediaries in order to help them meet their private client investment requirements.
WisdomTree
WisdomTree, the exchange-traded fund (ETF) and exchange-traded product (ETP) sponsor, has appointed Altaf Cassam to the newly-created head of compliance role at WisdomTree Europe.
Cassam joins from Aberdeen Asset Management where he was a MiFID II consultant. He brings almost 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry, with 10 years’ experience specifically in regulation and compliance. Cassam has held senior positions at Ernst & Young, Pioneer, Threadneedle and Natixis.
Based in London, Cassam will be responsible for all European compliance operations. He will report to Bryan Governey, general counsel in Europe.
Ruffer
Ruffer has appointed Clemmie Vaughan as chief executive, effective from 1 April 2017. Henry Maxey, who has carried out the dual roles of chief executive and chief investment officer for the last five years, will remain in his role as chief investment officer.
Vaughan has been at Ruffer for 12 years. She is head of the firm’s private client department and is a member of the executive committee and management board.
Maxey will continue to lead Ruffer’s investment process. Jonathan Ruffer remains as executive chairman, continuing to work closely with Vaughan and sharing the responsibility for asset allocation with Maxey.
Asset Management One International
Asset Management One International, the London-based subsidiary of Asian asset manager Asset Management One Co, has named Yasuko Sato as a product specialist. Sato joins with responsibility for supporting clients and promoting Asset Management One’s capabilities across Emea.
Sato brings over 14 years’ investment experience at JP Morgan Asset Management. Most recently, she was client portfolio manager in London, responsible for conducting client management and business development of Japanese equity products for off-shore clients in Europe, Asia and North America.
Jersey Finance
Jersey Finance has appointed Cormac Sheedy as a business development director for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, based in Dubai, as it seeks to further build its profile in the region.
Sheedy will be responsible for overseeing the advancement of Jersey Finance’s business activity and helping to further enhance Jersey’s reputation as a major international finance centre in the key Gulf region.
STEP
STEP, the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations, has appointed George Hodgson as chief executive of the society. Previously deputy chief executive, Hodgson has served as interim chief executive since the departure of David Harvey in June 2016.
Hodgson has been with STEP since 2009. Prior to this, he held a senior policy position at the Association of British Insurers, the main insurance industry trade body in the UK, and has also served on the staff of the Treasury Committee of the UK House of Commons.
Key Retirement Group
Key Retirement Group has appointed Rob Scott as chief financial officer to strengthen the executive team at the over 55s financial planning specialist. Scott has held a number of senior financial roles in financial services businesses, and his direct involvement in the group’s core customer segment whilst at Saga.
Previously group financial controller at AA, he will report to deputy chief executive Simon Thompson who was promoted from chief financial officer last year.
