CGWM bolsters its Singapore operation with Friends Provident International hire

Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management

The Canadian firm’s UK and Europe business (CGWM UK) has appointed Nick Teo as business development director in Singapore.

Teo will work with Andy Finch, head of international sales at CGWM UK, to bolster distribution in Singapore.

He has worked in the financial services industry for over 15 years. Teo was previously the regional sales manager for Friends Provident and sales manager for Axa.

Octopus Investments

Ruth Handcock and Jonathan Digges have been named as chief executive and chief investment officer, respectively, of the UK-based firm.

Handcock is responsible for the day-to-day running of Octopus Investments, taking over from co-founder Simon Rogerson, who will be focusing on his role as chief executive of Octopus Group.

She will continue to work with UK financial advisers to deliver products and services.

Digges joined the firm in 2015 and has held a number of roles since his arrival.

Kingswood

The wealth manager, previously known as KW Wealth, has named seven partners in the firm.

Rachel Bailey; Graydon Butler; Nigel Davies; Patrick Goulding; David Healy; Jeff Hodgetts; and Marc Maddison also comprise Kingswood’s executive committee.

In addition, the UK-based firm has appointed Richard Jeffrey as chairman of the investment committee.

Further committee members will be announced in due course.

Most recently, Jeffrey was chief investment officer and then chief economist at Cazenove Capital, part of the Schroders group.

Solomon Harris

Andrew Miller has joined law firm Solomon Harris, part of Bedell Cristin, in the Cayman Islands as partner and head of Cayman’s international private client practice.

Miller specialises in all aspects of non-contentious Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands international wealth structuring for individuals and financial institutions.

Prior to joining Bedell Cristin, he was a partner at another Cayman Islands law firm, heading its global wealth structuring group.

Neuberger Berman

Joe McDonnell has joined the employee-owned investment manager as head of portfolio solutions – Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea).

He will be part of the quantitative and multi-asset class investments team, reporting to co-heads Erik Knutzen and Doug Kramer.

McDonnell joins from Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he spent 10 years as head of portfolio solutions Emea.

Natixis Investment Management

The firm has hired Harald Walkate as head of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social and governance (ESG). He will be based in Paris.

In this newly-created role, Walkate will be responsible for Natixis’ CSR globally and its ESG commitments.

He will report to Beverly Bearden, deputy chief executive of Natixis Investment Managers; and Christophe Lanne, chief transformation and talent officer, asset and wealth management division.

Financial Conduct Authority

The UK’s financial watchdog has hired Wanda Goldwag as chair of the independent financial services consumer panel, effective from 1 March 2019 for an initial three-year term.

Goldwag will be the public face of the panel, leading and giving strategic direction by representing its views to the FCA board.

Wanda succeeds Sue Lewis, who was chair for a total of five and a half years.

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS)

The Swiss-headquartered organisation has appointed Clement Chung as a member of its executive committee.

Chung is chief executive of the Hong Kong financial watchdog the Insurance Authority.

IAIS is an organisation of insurance supervisors and regulators from over 190 jurisdictions in more than 140 countries.

Guernsey Finance

The promotional body for the Guernsey financial services sector has appointed Christine Gill as its London representative.

Gill replaces Adrian Norman and is responsible for expanding Guernsey’s range of activities in the City of London and identifying opportunities for Guernsey financial services businesses.
