Barclays Private Bank
Jean-Christophe Gerard has been named as chief executive, subject to regulatory approval.
He joined Barclays in 2017, initially heading up investments for Barclays Private Bank and has almost 30 years’ of experience in private banking, asset management and investment banking.
Gerard’s previous roles also include head of private bank Europe, Monaco and Switzerland, and chief executive of Barclays Monaco.
The wealth firm has named Derek Hammond as its commercial director.
He will be responsible for defining the commercial proposition to grow the business across the UK, Channel Islands and Gibraltar.
Hammond joins Kleinwort Hambros from Société Générale London, where he has been a member of the senior management team for the past three years.
He will succeed the current commercial director, Paul Kearney, who is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities.
Julius Baer International
The wealth manager has appointed Alan Hooks as head of private clients and Gordon Scott as head of UK regional offices.
Hooks has worked at Julius Baer International since 2013, joining from Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Most recently, he was head of London at Julius Baer International.
Scott replaces Calum Brewster, who will be leaving the business to take on a broader role in the industry.
He has been with Julius Baer International since 2017, most recently as team head where he was responsible for the firm’s offices in Edinburgh, Belfast and Manchester.
The Insurance Authority
The Hong Kong regulator has reappointed Clement Cheung as its chief executive for a term of three years until 14 August 2023.
Cheung was appointed as chief executive of the IA in August 2018.
The financial services provider has promoted Victoria Grogan to head of Wills and probate in Jersey.
Tatiana Collins, an investment funds and regulatory lawyer, and Shaun Maloney, an expert in contentious trust matters, have both become managing associates in Jersey.
Also, at the firm’s private wealth operation in Guernsey, Alice Bricogne and Chris Hards, have been promoted to counsel and managing associate, respectively.
The financial advice network has hired Anne Grim and Rosanne Murison as non-executive directors.
Murison, who will also chair the company’s remuneration committee, has more than 30 years’ experience advising multinational companies at board level.
She is currently a non-executive director at Allianz UK, serving as chair of both the remuneration and nomination committee and the customer and conduct committee.
Grim, who will also chair the risk and compliance committee, has recently joined Metro Bank as a board director and brings more than 30 years’ experience in senior financial services leadership roles at Barclays, Wells Fargo, American Express, Mastercard.
Most recently, Grim was chief customer officer at Fidelity International.
