PEOPLE MOVES: Ashburton, Brewin Dolphin, Sanlam

Ex-UBS man to lead Ashbuton’s international business, Brewin Dolphin hires from gold dealer to lead new London office and Sanlam recruits from Jupiter for UK regional sales role.

Ashburton Investments

Ashburton Investments has appointed Tony Wilshin to the role of managing director of its international business.

He will be responsible for the strategic management of Ashburton’s international offering and will drive the growth of the business with a core focus on enhancing customer experience and the firm’s position in the industry.

Wilshin, who was made a director of Ashburton in 2016, specialises in operational efficiency and process streamlining. Prior to Ashburton, he was executive director, head of operations and head of securities at UBS.

Brewin Dolphin

Brewin Dolphin has named Nick Hammond as operations director for its new West End London office, following a five-year sabbatical from wealth management.

Hammond has over 20 years’ experience in wealth management and financial services, he joins Brewin from Baird & Co where he sat on the board of directors as chief operating officer, focusing on driving key strategic priorities and operational responsibilities.

Prior to this, he spent 11 years at private banking firm C Hoare & Co developing its wealth management proposition.

Sanlam Global Investment Solutions

Sanlam Global Investment Solutions (SGIS) has hired Roger Bartholomew for the role of regional sales director – UK.

Bartholomew joins Sanlam after 10 years at Jupiter Asset Management.

He will work with SGIS chief executive David Itzkovits and Gideon Nell, head of global distribution to promote its Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered SMR Fund.

Hermes

Hermes Investment Management has appointed Magnus Kristensen as director of business development for the Nordic region. Based in Denmark, Kristensen will report into Paul Voute, head of European business development.

The Nordic region is a core market for Hermes, where the firm has developed a diversified pool of clients. Kristensen will be responsible for both institutional and wholesale channels in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

He will also oversee the strategy in the region, covering existing clients, Hermes’ strategic partners, as well as raising third-party assets and delivering new business targets.

Prior to joining Hermes, Kristensen was head of client relations at Jyske Bank and has held roles at Neuberger Berman, Invensure, Nykredit Asset Management and Thomson Reuters.

Columbia Threadneedle Investments

Columbia Threadneedle Investments has appointed Roman Gaiser to the role of head of portfolio management, high yield, Emea.

Based in London, Gaiser will report to Barrie Whitman, head of high yield, Emea. Subject to regulatory approval, Gaiser will manage a number of European High Yield portfolios, including the Threadneedle European High Yield Bond Fund.

Gaiser was previously head of high yield at Pictet Asset Management.
