Aegon Life
Aegon Life India has appointed Vineet Arora as the managing director and chief executive, effective from January 2018, replacing KS Gopalakrishnan who left the company on 17 November 2017.
Chief people officer Saba Adil will serve as the interim in-charge and principal officer until Arora is officially appointed.
Arora has a long association with the ICICI Group. He held a number of roles in ICICI Securities and between 2002 and 2008, worked for ICICI Prudential Life Insurance in various sales related roles, rising to the role of senior vice president – Bancassurance and Alliances.
Deutsche Asset Management
Mark McDonald has been appointed by Deutsche Asset Management as global head of private equity.
McDonald, who is based in London, has over 20 years’ international experience and joins Deutsche AM from Credit Suisse where he was a senior member of the screening committee for the firm’s private fund group.
At Credit Suisse, he lead the development and implementation of the group’s secondary strategy, which focused on more complex, bespoke solutions for general and limited partners.
McDonald’s focus is to grow Deutsche AM’s private equity business and to look to capitalise on under-served and difficult to access secondary market opportunities, as well as unique private market situations.
BNP Paribas Asset Management
BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP) has appointed Philip Dawes as head of institutional sales for the UK and Ireland.
Dawes will be based in London and will report to Charles Janssen, head of institutional sales for Europe.
In this newly-created role Dawes will be responsible for developing BNPP’s business across UK institutional clients. This includes insurers and pension funds, as well as contributing to the development of BNPP’s UK product strategy.
Dawes is joining BNPP from Allianz Global Investors where he worked for 16 years in a variety of roles including head of UK institutional. In this role, Dawes was responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing and client servicing for UK-based DB and DC pension schemes and insurance clients.
Architas
Former Ruseell Investments manager Mayank Markanday has joined Architas as an investment manager. He brings with him more than 10 years’ experience and has been tasked with co-managing the diversified real assets and diversified global income funds and the multi-manager monthly high income fund.
He will also lead on UK fixed income and the fixed income side of alternatives, such as asset-backed securities.
