By International Adviser, 19 Aug 13
Standard Bank has appointed Jonathan Peake to the Jersey-based role of head of risk, where he will be responsible for developing and maintaining a risk management framework for the African banking group’s offshore operations across Jersey, the Isle of Man and Mauritius.
Peake, who fills the position left by Mark Hucker – now Standard Bank’s chief executive – will also work closely with the group’s risk team in South Africa.
In a statement announcing Peake’s appointment, Hucker noted that he appreciated "the importance of understanding and managing risk", having held the role himself.
Peak comes to Standard Bank from Deutsche Bank International in the Channel Islands, where he was head of risk management.
Prior to this he was a senior manager at KPMG Forensic Services, where he led several large investigations, including one into a $400m hedge fund fraud. He originally trained as an accountant.
