Nordea launches multi-asset fund for UK investors

By International Adviser, 18 Nov 15

Nordea Asset Management has launched a new multi-asset fund for UK investors, the Nordea 1 – GBP Diversified Return Fund.

Nordea Asset Management has launched a new multi-asset fund for UK investors, the Nordea 1 - GBP Diversified Return Fund.

The fund which was seeded at launch with over £250m from a large UK financial group, will draw on the expertise of Nordea’s 40 strong multi asset team, headed by Asbjørn Trolle Hansen.

That team has been working together since 2003 and has been running multi asset strategies for almost a decade. They oversee £50bn of assets.

Nordea said it ‘decided more than a decade ago’ to shift focus away from asset class investing – such as top down or beta investments – to focus on risk premia.

The firm claims this strategy provides ‘more robust diversification and better downside protection’ while delivering stable total returns over economic cycles.

“The Nordea 1 – GBP Diversified Return Fund is an ideal solution for UK DGF investors, who are increasingly seeking managers with a proven track record. We have already received our first UK investment consultant ratings and are pleased to see that pension schemes are starting to allocate to the fund,” said Thomas Nehring, head of UK and US institutional distribution at Nordea Asset Management.

“We believe the best way to meet the challenge of consistent long-term performance and true diversification is to control risk at all times, rather than simply targeting the highest returns,” he added.

The asset management arm of the banking group has €190bn under management.
