Mike Morrison remembered with PFS lifetime achievement award

By Kirsten Hastings, 23 Nov 17

Two weeks after his sudden death, the Personal Finance Society has honoured Mike Morrison, head of platform technical at AJ Bell, with its lifetime achievement award.

Morrison, who was just 55 when he died, was commemorated with the award a day after his funeral took place.

Described as a “hugely influential figure” during his three decades in the financial services industry, Morrison’s career started at Provident Life (later Winterthur) in 1990.

Following a spell at Axa Wealth, he joined AJ Bell in 2012.

Respected expert

PFS chief executive Keith Richards said: “Everyone at the Personal Finance Society was shocked and saddened to hear the news about one of the profession’s best known and most respected experts on anything and everything ‘pension technical’.

“Mike was a most welcome and highly regarded speaker at our events across the country, and could always be relied upon to deliver business-relevant CPD in his uniquely impactful and humorous style.

“I am honoured to have known and worked with him and we are proud to bestow this lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the personal finance profession and the public we serve.”

Richards described Morrison as, “a gentleman and professional who will be dearly missed”.
