The position is a new one, Barings said, in a statement today. It follows the completion earlier this year of Barings’ acquisition of SEI Asset Korea – one of Korea’s largest asset managers.
Based in Baring’s Hong Kong office Tang will report to Gerry Ng, chief executive officer, Asia ex Japan.
Tang joins Barings from JP Morgan Asset Management, where he was executive director and head of its intermediary business. Prior to this, he held various sales roles at Allianz Global Investors, HSBC Asset Management and Jardine Fleming Unit Trusts.
