Hook, former head of UK wealth and structuring at Lloyds Private Banking, will lead a three-strong team in this newly-created role that will focus on developing the Swiss banking group’s wealth and tax planning platform for clients of the London office.
He reports to Jeremy Brown, head of investment solutions group, UK.
Hook, who has 15 years’ experience in wealth management – including a six-year stint at HSBC Private Bank, is Julius Baer’s second London appointment in two months after Mazy Moghadam joined the team as a senior relationships manager in September.
Julius Baer’s total client assets amounted to CHF 304bn (£208bn, €246bn) at the end of June 2013, with assets under management accounting for CHF 218bn.
Julius Baer is currently integrating Merrill Lynch’s International Wealth Management business outside the US, which, the bank says, will increase the group’s presence to more than 25 countries and 50 locations.
