JP Morgan has launched an offshore fund for Richard Titherington, focused on dividend-paying companies in emerging markets.

The JPM Emerging Markets Dividend Fund, which opened on 11 December and is structured as a Sicav, will be run using the same strategy as the JPM Emerging Markets Income Oeic.

This portfolio is also managed by Titherington, the chief investment officer and head of JP Morgan Asset Management’s emerging markets equity team.

The onshore fund, which launched in September this year, seeks income by investing primarily in emerging markets companies in any economic sector while participating in long-term capital growth.

FE Analytics shows the fund as returning 6.49% over the past three months, placing it in the second quartile of the IMA Global Emerging Markets sector.

The Luxembourg-domiciled JPM Emerging Markets Dividend Fund targets an annual yield of 4%, the same as the onshore fund. It is open to retail investors, although there is a minimum investment of £25,000.

The asset manager said: “Today there are 250 emerging market companies with a forward estimated yield of greater than 4%. Expansion of the emerging market investment universe in recent years makes a diversified income strategy possible today in a way it wasn’t ten years ago.”
