Mackie has over 15 years of investment management experience and joins Brooks Macdonald from Vestra Wealth where he was an investment manager responsible for its range of model portfolios across a large number of platforms and sat on its Platform Investment Committee.
The appointment of Mackie extends BMAM’s investment in its MPS range of model portfolios in response to the growing demand from professional advisers for outsourced investment solutions, bringing the total number of MPS investment managers on the team to three.
“Our MPS proposition is in a phase of tremendous growth driven by demand from the professional adviser market and Jim’s experience in this arena will prove invaluable in the evolution of this service,” said Andrew Shepherd, joint managing director of BMAM.
In his new role, Mackie’s main role will be to support the management of BMAM’s MPS offering, which consists of five diversified portfolios and covers a wide range of investment objectives and risk profiles.
He will also assist in the management of the four risk-rated fund of funds (FoF), provided by sister company Brooks Macdonald Funds.
Brooks Macdonald Asset Management is a specialist investment manager providing discretionary management services for private clients, trusts, charities and pensions and is part of Brooks Macdonald Group, which had £6.95bn ($10.5bn, €9.3bn) under management at the end of December 2014.
